Faith Academy’s Davis signs NLI to play for UT-Dallas

Faith Academy of Marble Falls senior power forward Brock Davis signed his National Letter of Intent to play basketball for the University of Texas at Dallas May 3.
Faith officials hosted the signing event in The Fire Pit gymnasium.
“They have a cool school,” Davis said of UT-Dallas. “I had a good experience visiting with coaches.”
He joins a squad that features another Burnet County player — 2021 Burnet High School graduate Luke Kiser — who was named the American Southwest Conference freshman of the year in 2021-22.
“I met him a few times,” Davis said.
What the 6-foot, 7-inch power forward liked about the Comets was the equal emphasis of basketball and academics, he said. Davis comes from a family of entrepreneurs. Therefore, he plans to major in accounting and business.
“I have a lot of connections,” he said with a smile. “I’m hoping to pursue that and figure out a way to balance basketball.”
Other programs he checked out include Dallas Baptist University, East Texas Baptist University, Trinity University and the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor.
Davis was the Flames go-to player for the last two years in helping his team win district titles during the 2021-22 and 2022-23 seasons. During his final season as a Flame, Davis averaged 23.5 points and at least 12 rebounds per contest.
Voters of the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches named him the Most Valuable Player of Class 2A and Class 3A of the Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools. He also received academic all-state honors the last two years.
“It’s been a great way to express myself and the God-given abilities,” Davis said about playing the sport. “I see it as if you’re given a talent and you’re blessed, you need to use it to the best of your ability.”
While what he and the Flames accomplished speaks for itself, Davis credits the program and school for giving him a desire to be more than a good teammate.
“It’s really helped me with my social skills,” he said. “I’ve always been a very competitive basketball player. I’ve always been on a select team. With Faith Academy, you have to go to school the next day. You surround yourself with unselfish people and good camaraderie.”
Davis said he is enjoying the last several weeks of the school year, including the opportunity to earn a medal while competing in the TAPPS’ Class 3A state track and field meet Friday and Saturday, May 5-6, at Waco Midway.
